One of my favorite authors, JD Salinger, passed away. I know it’s cliche, but don’t worry, my favorite work of his is NOT Catcher in the Rye. His short stories blew my mind, and Franny and Zooey made me think. And now, ahem, some quotes:
“Jesus knew — knew — that we’re carrying the Kingdom of Heaven around with us, inside, where we’re all too goddam stupid and sentimental and unimaginative to look?” - Franny and Zooey
“I wouldn’t even tell them grass is green. Colors are only names. I mean if you tell them the grass is green, it makes them start expecting the grass to look a certain way—your way—instead of some other way that may be just as good, and may be much better … I don’t know. I’d just make them vomit up every bit of the apple their parents and everybody made them take a bite out of.” - Teddy
and now, for the most profound one:
“Please accept from me this unpretentious bouquet of very early-blooming parentheses: (((())))” -Seymour: An Introduction
